Things to Consider when Renovating or Remodeling

So… you are ready to renovate or remodel? Or maybe you're like some around the US that did not plan on these projects but are doing them anyways thanks to Mother Nature!

Renovating or remodeling your home is a big project. Here are some ideas and thoughts to help in the process…

Things to Consider

Always think about resale, will this add value to my home?

What is an upgrade in my neighborhood or price range?

Have my neighbors put in new kitchens or bathrooms or have they updated with new countertops, sinks and faucets?

One thought on renovating a bathroom, I do not have one client that is sorry they installed radiant heat under their bathroom tile. That warmth under your feet on a cold winter morning is worth every penny of the extra cost!

What kind of flooring have they put in? Hardwood? Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)?

LVP is always a good idea and it is waterproof!

But with the opportunity (whether you planned it or not!) to start all over putting in new products a wise choice is to choose a product that will add value to your home.

For example, right now Luxury Vinyl Plank products are extremely popular and would be an update over carpet (and in most cases can cost about the same) and would add value to your home.

For countertops consider quartz over granite because the quartz vendors have expanded into clean styles that granite cannot offer. But both are great products and will hold up well in a kitchen or bathroom.

One more thing…. a word of caution on grey. It has been a popular color for over 12 years and it will always be a neutral. But I would suggest using it sparingly to create a room that will be classic and not feel outdated in 5-8 years.

I hope your project turns out exactly how you planned and I'd love to help you in the process! Working with a designer helps you save money, time and from making mistakes. Let's chat.
